Screen Print Process
Screen printing is a process in which thick ink is squeezed through small mesh openings in a screen. Most designs will utilize several screens. One for each color of the design typically. This means that there should be distinct color zones within your overall design. Screens are coated in a photosensitive material. This material is then blocked in the areas where ink is to transfer while the rest of the material is exposed to UV light to cure. After washing away the uncured area, we are left with a crisp, well defined region for ink to transfer to the garment.
Layers
Each design is broken apart into multiple color layers to create the design.
Ink
Ink is pressed through the screen to the garment by a squeegee.
Heat
Heat is often applied between colors to make sure they are dry and don't smear.
